Poetry for Collecting Rocks

Who knew there was poetry for collecting rocks? I found this awesome poem about Collecting Rocks the other day on Pinterest! I love it as it made me laugh because it’s so relatable! I’ve been scrolling pinterest regularly looking for ideas of what to do with all the stones and rocks that are coming out of my tumblers. Click here to see what I have pinned so far if you are curious or interested.

At the moment I either give handfuls of polished stones away to anyone and everyone or I put my absolute favs in various jars on display in the entrance way! I have also started adding rocks to a shallow bowl which was my former fruit bowl!

Here is the poem …

Collecting Rocks

I think that there shall never be
An ignoramus just like me,
Who roams the hills throughout the day
To pick up rocks that do not pay;
For there’s one thing I’ve been told
I take the rocks and leave the gold.

O’er deserts wild or mountains blue
I search for rocks of varied hue
A hundred pounds or more I pack
With blistered feet and aching back,
And after this is said and done
I cannot name a single one.

I pick up rocks where e’er I go,
The reason why I do not know,
For rocks are found by fools like me
Where God intended them to be.
